Grant funding 'Jury' selection continues

In an awkwardly tense (and to me sickening) process by which any names

we previously know enough to propose would be a possible conflict of interest

or undue influence, the Consumer Operated committee,

while ignoring suggestions of characteristics and types of people from organizations,

instead of actually naming individuals, talking traits and qualities of generally

respected people capable of unbiased decisions on funding regional consumer

recovery startups, individuals and enabling Consumer/Survivor/Expatient empowerment.

The review panel for grants, imho , should be representative of the regionally

diverse community of individuals who would be receiving the services

while also knowlegable about how difficult it is to start or sustain

a consumer peer operated service.

Many of our previous community leaders are being considered and likely

asked to serve in this capacity. Pathway Homes may be contacting

people for availability and the legalities of what appears to be like

'jury selection'.

The COS committee meetings [1 pm] Thursday [1/17 at the RRWG office] to [hopefully] finalize

the selections. The RRWG general meeting on Monday took significant time

discussing and proposing more names. Given the majority of Fairfax

people on the workgroup, other names were solicited and as previously

announced in the general meeting announcement. This is said to be difficult

reading volumous proposals and making the final decisions on who/ what

programs [figuratively] 'live or die' on this rounds funding[/surgery] table.

Difficult monetary decisions amongst your friends affecting

your local community. But a public service for which some unspecified

compensation is said to be provided.

In what can only be described as bullying, the co vice chair failed to recognize the minutes revisions/differences

presented electronically to him before the meeting (I can't print at home, none available at the RRWG office,

no time with 3 x 25 mile each way trips cross county since Friday's impromptu grant funding meeting

including a 3 hour mysterious transportation delay in the cold with police driving by and also failed to hear

nor recognize the Website contact person.

Website also was not on the agenda, though a new paid peer services staff person BeverlyMc,

who has never attended a website meeting attempted to present the CSB's off the shelf system of care

aka Network of Care, what the chair did put on the agenda, though the old business for 10 months has never come up,

clearly the individual consumers are not a priority to Provider and Family chairs,

while also failing to hear to fill the vacancies in the Executing Committee among other recommendations...

Later in that same monthly RRWG meeting, the wife of the vice chair (the 'we want better than you' lawyer

and also CSB consumer member who has been silent from Kennedy to Cho, so who exactly is being

'represented'???) basically told me to shut up, when translating meeting days 22-25 and 29-31,

to next and following week Tues-Fri and Tues-Thurs with a computer calendar and seeking clarity

as many have day of the week commitments. This process seemed like fishing in people's

schedules on short notice while the clock has started on any funding application proposal work. During this

rush, the RRWG is to create bylaws at an all day meeting, including 'team building',

bylaws and responding to CSB Exec's chart of head's roles and responsibilities.

Well, the heads of nothing, those consumers who are not executive directors of something

likely funded by public and perhaps other church? money, the individuals these recovery monies

were meant to help recover, do not get heard and are bullied, ridiculed, ignored and now subject

to new laws of committment.

Sarcasm: Well done lawyers and legistlators! First CSBs fail to properly support people who

then became violent, likely abused and Tasered by the police, I'd suspect police or schoolmates

even shot Kennedy's dog (but you can't take your pet/animal into any shelter or

treatment place that I'm aware of, the main comfort many people have,

besides of course food, contact, sodas/caffiene and nicotine aka the classic 'smoke and coke' syndrome...)

and blamed him for it, failed to help him with his family at Woodburn Emergency Services,

and then the grieving family is jailed on weapons related charges. This is the same

Western Fairfax County high school from which SH Cho came (aka columbine east?),

but when it is consumers passively and nonviolently dying like those listed on this site

(many of my friends), it is seen as 'no humans involved', mislabeled as something else,

but when it's the police officers or other 'normal' Virginia Tech students, it's a tragedy...

So consumer members of the Fairfax Board (two of which are RRWG project leads

including our own 'Ombuds') organization go study/research the 'problem' in public silence

for a year or more, in the form of a Fairfax County blue ribbon 'Beeman Commission'

named after the former CSB Board Chair who passed away,

end up hiring a Commission member as our RRWG Coordinator (aka WillyNilly)

supposedly representing Fairfax and other regional consumers without having ever experienced

the same services and abuse, the RRWG selection committee ends up

bumping up the contract salary to hire said person but somehow the RRWG consumers working

for now over two years to create and fill these positions are reported at the December SteeringCommittee

'being compensated for their expertise' at approximately

$8/ hour for only the last few months of the 2 years, by an Executing Committee

decision to ignore the recommendation of the Stipend Committee's

and cut it in half. This is empowerment and consumer representation

in the same county and region that brought so many tragedies, both

M Kennedy and S Cho, among more non violent and passive RRWG advocates

who went to the legislature for consumer funding David O'Brien,

and another friend who I recruited into OOOFC serving until the approximate

opening OOOFxCo board president PatrickSnow, among other

consumers/expatients/ psychiatric survivors.

So the Executing Committee meets as if representing and deciding for others,

lawyers begat other lawyers, legistlators make new rules without consumer/survivor/expatient

input (much less representation nor consent) and the common consumers got screwed,

in the form of police Tasers, shackles and forced drugging in outpatient commitment,

and other forms of abuse and neglect, ridicule, __insert bad thing (like broom handle here)__.

In other News, the vice chair without clearly opening the meeting,

in something that can be only be described as another abuse of power,

or politicing, presented that commitment laws have been changed. Audience response

included the reference to Nazi Germany's 'first they came for our neighbors,

and we did nothing, then they came for our family and we didn't know what to do,

then they came for us and there was nothing we could do.' or similar.

The Rally which the co vice chair also heads was mentioned[/plugged] to go speak

to legistlators on Martin Luther King's observed birthday in the Virginia

state capital.

Others (one said lawyer) announced advocating with responding to requests from a

Washington Post reporter for people's stories of access to services,

commitment and other issues. Like many forms of press,

what would be published could easily be altered, slanted, edited

and taken out of context. as is usually done in the mainstream media

and we haven't the impartial and independent resources to provide

an alternative media like NoVAPeers 2.0, the homelesss DC parallel

StreetSense.org, or other peer services to accommodate and

compensate for the other abuses of power against the mentally ill by

Providers, Family and the outraged General Public,

much less the 'Consumer on Consumer' 'violence' like the last RRWG meeting.

Editorialzing should be separated from the factual reporting,

but this is done the same as RRWG vice chair actions so you can

experience some of those same feelings of being railroaded, steamrolled and

bullied, and like the Beeman Commision and homeless 10 year plan report

presentations, just sit down, shut up and take it without being able to respond,

which is the problem in the first place.

That is 'care' in the NoVA region following likely CSBs mistakes

for which Executing Committees and other Luminatires get more

funding instead of being fired, jailed and Taser'ed like the

mere commoners /workers in some of the richest counties in the world..

The $50 pbwiki hosting fees came due again this year, but NAMI-PW nor another entitiy did not come forward to contribute, so this pbwiki is now the free version. That means that file space went to the 10 MB (over 200 MB over, so no new files until the fee is paid), many pbwiki features were lost... Note: Page Counters mysteriously went to zero in the summer before hosting fees, when were around 400 for this home page after the pbwiki.com added # visitors plugins....

The Summer2007WebsiteStatusEmail replied to that action as well as a few others. The next RRWG meeting attended, this email was referenced, but the executing committee didn't even remember it, nor did it make it in the minutes as a status report... More business as usual, afaict...
